Discipleship Training / GAs / RAs / Mission Friends

Discipleship Training will begin this Sunday, September 13th at 6 PM .  There are two classes being offered for adults.  Disciples Path and a two part study Jesus on Leadership: Developing Servant Leaders/Building Antioch: Your Role in a Transformational Church.  RAs, GAs and Mission Friends will also start back up this Sunday.  There will be a place for everyone in the family.  Don’t miss out!

Adult & Handbell Choir

Now is a good time to join the Adult Choir especially as they begin working on music for Christmas. Handbell Choir will begin this Sunday, September 13th from 5:00-5:50pm.  The Adult Choir rehearses each Wednesday night from 7:45-9:00pm.  See Pastor Edgar for more information.

Discipleship Training

Classes are held each Sunday night starting at 6 PM.  

This session we are offing two classes:

Study #1

  • Jesus on Leadership: Developing Servant Leaders (1st six weeks): This study focuses on applying biblical principles of servant leadership to develop church members into servant leaders.
  • Building Antioch: Your Role in a Transformational Church (2nd six weeks): This study builds on a laypersons role in the church to do their part to make their church a transformational church.  

Study #2

  • Disciples Path: This study is a series that provides biblical understandings, principles, and practices of discipleship.

Willow Oaks

Sunday, August 30th
4:30 – 6:00pm

Come join us for another Block Party in the Willow Oaks Community in Monroe.  We will have music, games and great fellowship.  If you would like to carpool, please meet at the church by 3:45pm.  We are also collecting school supplies which will be donated to the children in the community.

Live Broadcast Offline

The Sunday morning live broadcast of the service will be unavailable for the next several weeks. We will be able to continue to support the podcast and the posting of the video afterwards, but the service will not be available in real-time for the next few weeks.

Dan Pinkham’s Celebration Service

Dan Pinkham’s Celebration Service will be at First Baptist Church of Weddington on Saturday, August 22 at 11am.
The family will be honoring Dan’s desire for a private viewing for family on Friday, August 21 and a short private graveside service on Saturday morning, August 22.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Cultural Mission Endowment–Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.

Church Picnic

picnic_4953cChurch Wide Picnic – A Day At the Lake

Come join us for a church-wide picnic this Sunday, August 9th at John & Marty Sikes Lake House on Lake Wylie.

We will leave immediately after church so we encourage everyone to dress comfortably for Sunday School and the morning services.

The church will provide the hamburgers and hotdogs.  We ask that you bring a side dish and drinks for all to share.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs as well.  All are welcome to fish, but if you are 16 years old or older you must have a current fishing license.

Children’s Ministry – Wacky Wednesday/Water Day

Rising 1st  – 6th graders
9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Wear a bathing suit under your wackiest  clothes and bring a towel for a fun filled wet Wacky Wednesday!  The cost is $5 per child.

Sign-up at the Welcome Center through August 2nd.  We will need a minimum of 4 children for each day to make these events happen.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Jeanell.

Children’s Ministry – In The Garden Kids Day

Come join us for a fun day in the Garden!  The cost is $5 per child.

Handyman Ministry

Our Handyman Ministry continues each Saturday through August 22nd.  A sign-up sheet is up on the Men’s Ministry portion of the bulletin board to coordinate those of you who feel led to help. We would like to have three people per Saturday (planning for half-days each week, approximately 8:00-12:00). No experience is required. However, if you have experience with work like this and would like to help lead, please let us know. We can certainly leverage your talents and experience.  Please see Reid Matthews if you have any questions.
