As the culture changes all around us, it is no longer possible for Christians to pretend that we are a moral majority. That may be bad news for America, but it can be good news for the church. Nominal Christianity isn’t working anymore. What’s needed now, in shifting times, is neither a doubling-down on the status quo nor a retreat into isolation. Instead, we need a church that speaks to social and political issues with a bigger vision in mind: that of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christianity seems increasingly strange—and even subversive—to our culture, we have the opportunity to embrace the distinctiveness of the Christian faith and to be marginalized for the sake of the gospel. Pastor Edgar will be facilitating this class.
Pastor Sam will be leading our FBC Foundations Class. At FBC Foundations you will learn more about:
* Foundational doctrines of the Christian faith (know what you believe and why)
* Common world religions & cults (how they compare to Christianity)
* First Baptist Church of Weddington doctrinal commitments, organization, and leadership;
* biblical church membership; and
* opportunities for you to connect in various ways in the life of the church.
This class consists of three different sessions and will be held in room 214.
– Foundations Class 101 will be held on February 21st.
– Foundations Class 102 will be held on February 28th.
– Foundations Class 103 will be held on March 6th.
Come be a part of this special class. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Sam.
